"The educational theories of experiential education and critical pedagogy intersect in a number of ways. One of the intended aims of both of these pedagogies is that  the purpose of education should be to develop a more socially just world (Itin, 1999; Kincheloe, 2004). One of the key issues still facing experiential education theory and critical pedagogy is its imple mentation within the post-secondary classroom. There is a lack of congruence between the pedagogical theories that are espoused and the actual classroom practices that are employed." -  Mary Breunig

Employment conditions have the ability to make you feel great or feel extremely stressed. Precarious and unstable employment means unstable income and increased stress. While we want to encourage people to fight for 'decent work' we also all need to find the gratitude in life and tear away the stresses caused by unjust systems.

“We believe an important pedagogical moment - jamming’s pedagogical hinge - occurs when audience members as learners experience détournement (literally, a “turning around”). All of the pedagogical tactics used in culture jamming attempt to lead the learner to a moment of détournement, where she is no longer who she used to be, but rather is caught off guard by the possibility of becoming someone or something different. Lasn argues that culture jamming helps provide a new way of looking at the world, and describes this détournement as “a perspective-jarring turnabout in your everyday life” (Sandlin and Milam, 339).

36% of adults do not get paid if they miss a day's work. 35% of adults do not receive pensions or RRSP contributions beyond CPP. 32% do not receive health benefits. And 80% of the jobs created since 2008 have been part-time. Basic income has the opportunity to address the uncertainly of the workforce.
